Stevens High School team places first in criminal justice competition

The 13th Annual SWTJC Criminal Justice Competition was held Friday, (April 20) on the Uvalde campus.

Stevens High School Post 521 from San Antonio took top honors in the team competition, which included a total of 30 teams from across south and southwest Texas.

Eagle Pass Border Patrol Post 925 earned second place, and Edinburg North High School placed third.

More than 500 students took part in the event which featured competition in 13 events including fingerprinting, push-ups, sit-ups, patdown frisk search and arrest, crime scene, felony traffic team stop, domestic violence, shooting simulator, criminal justice quiz bowl, mile run and 100-meter run. 

"I want to thank everyone who volunteered to make this year's competition a success," said Director of Outreach, Michelle Torres.

SWTJC’s criminal justice department, along with the outreach department, coordinated the daylong event.
