Uvalde campus announces Who’s Who and Leadership recipients

Teresa Crow, Palms Fest coordinator welcomed those attending this year’s festival and gave a brief history of the annual event, which has been held continuously since 1955.

Additionally, a total of 15 students were honored by the faculty and staff with Who’s Who recognition, during the awards ceremony.

SWTJC Uvalde campus honorees include Aliya Gonzales, Alpine; Hailey Revis, Carrizo Springs; Jordan Jones, Concan; Michael Flores and Kimberly Lopez, Crystal City; Sabrina Ramon, Del Rio; Julia Lopez, Eagle Pass; Nathaniel Sanchez, Knippa and Adrianne Briseno, Sarah Contreras, Mayra Garcia, Kimberly Gonzalez, Brenda Lopez, Juanita Rodriguez and Anahlie Rojas all of Uvalde.

Crow presented the certificates to honorees during an awards presentation held in the courtyard by the fountain area.

Leadership award winners from the Uvalde campus were also recognized at the ceremony. Sponsors of various college clubs and organizations choose recipients of “L” awards.

On the Uvalde campus, winners include: Ricardo Cervantes and Rachel Townsend, Ambassadors; Bethany Nieto and Yasmeen Perez, Baseline Bums; Jennifer Deleon and Alana Rubio, Catholic Club; Kimberly Gonzalez and Laura Luna, Cosmetology; Paul Castillo and Isidro Murillo, Gaming Club; Martin Fernandez and Javier Esparza, Kinesiology; Johnny Gonzalez and Jordan Zaruba, Men's Basketball; Serina Garibay and Justin Perez, PTK; Elvia Briones and Jude Luna, Radiology; Reginaldo Menchaca and Amaris Reeves, STEM; Leopoldo Aviles and Myda Medrano, Student Activities; Sabrina Allen and Graciela Gaspar, Women's Basketball; Hope Lopez and Daniel Martinez, Cross Country.

Following the announcement of this year’s winners, Palm’s Festival attendees enjoyed an evening of food, music and swimming at the Memorial Swimming Pool for the first ever “Dip and Dive Pool Side Splash” event.

The annual Palm's Festival took place outdoors under the beautiful palms in the main courtyard.
