How to enroll at Southwest Texas Junior College
1. Apply to SWTJC
All new students and returning students who have not attended SWTJC for one long (fall,spring) semester must apply to the college. You can access our on-line admission application here
2. Admissions Requirements
Southwest Texas Junior College is an open-admissions college, however there are requirements that must be met depending on the student's background. Once these requirements are met, the student will be accepted into SWTJC. The menu bar to the left will take you to information on what your admissions requirements are based on youR incoming situation.
3. Testing and Texas Success Initiative (TSI)
The state of Texas requires all students entering a public college or university in Texas to either have taken or be exempt from taking one of the TSI tests. The ACT and the SAT are not required for admission to SWTJC. However these two exams can be used as an exemption to TSI requirements depending on student's score. 4. Advising and Orientation
Once a student has applied, turned in all of his/her admissions documents and either been tested or determined exempt from TSI testing, it is recommended that the student be advised. The following link will take you to information on who is required to visit with an advisor before registering for courses.
5. Housing
A $95 deposit and filling out a Housing Application is required to reserve a room in our on-campus housing facilities.Student Housing Application
6. Registration
You are now ready to register for classes once you have completed all the steps outlined.
