Safe N' Sober Week 2015
safe n sober 2015 A variety of activities were scheduled all week.


Activities kick off with "Know your limits" pledge on Monday @11am in C building. A total of 166 students pledge the "Don't Drink and Drive".


On Tuesday, March 10th, @ 11am in the activity area students had their "Mock tail" contest, winner was Tony Picazo, prize dinner for two at Chili's.


Wednesday March 13 the pledging continued as well as PTK had their blood drive from 9am to 2pm in front parking lot. Photos

Time permits available starting March 2nd for summer and fall
Registration will begin early this year for summer and fall classes at SWTJC. According to SWTJC Counselor Mrs. Brenda Hoffman, registration for both summer sessions, as well as fall 2015 classes, will begin March 30th.


"Advisor-assisted registration begins on Monday, March 30th, so we encourage students to get their time permits as soon as they can, registering early will give us more time to advise students and to help them work on securing financial aid to help defray cost, "Hoffman said.


Summer I classes will begin on June 1st and end on July 7th, while Summer II starts on July 13th and ends Aug. 18th. Fall classes are slated to begin on Aug 24th.

Chat with the President 2015   SWTJC President Dr. Hector Gonzales visited the Eagle Pass campus to address student concerns during a Q&A session in the D 113 on Tuesday, March 3rd.


Several students were on hand to ask a variety of questions addressing issues concerning more parking lighting, security on campus, a float for parades, atm, and a portable restroom while construction is on-going.

Welcome Back sp 15  SWTJC students, faculty, and staff enjoyed free hotdogs, chips, and soda for the Welcome Back held on Thursday Feb.12th. Special thanks to Julie Monsivais, Blanca Herrera, Norma Diaz and Student Government Association for volunteering their time to make this event a success. Photos

Students attended Community College Day in Austin
Community College Day  A group of over 50 SWTJC students, administration, faculty and staff attended Community College Day on Feb. 3 at the state capitol in Austin.

Dual credit students from Uvalde High School, as well as SWTJC students from Del Rio, Eagle Pass and Uvalde campuses joined over 1,500 at the rally outside the capitol. PHOTOS

The event was sponsored by the Texas Association of Community Colleges. Speakers from TACC, as well as various state legislators and the president of the Texas Junior College Student Government Association all spoke at the opening of the day's activities.

Following the opening speeches, student representatives in attendance were encouraged to visit with their respective legislators concerning various issues facing the 50 community college districts across the state.

The SWTJC group visited with District 80 State Representative Tracy O. King of Uvalde and District 74 State Representative Poncho Nevarez of Eagle Pass.
