Happy Holidays
christmas 2014  The administration, faculty and staff at Southwest Texas Junior College wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

College offices will be closed from Dec. 15 through Jan. 2. Offices will reopen at 8 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 5.

Online registration for spring classes will be available throughout the holidays. Advisor-assisted (in person) registration will be available starting Jan. 5.

The first day of classes for the spring semester is Monday, Jan. 19.

Phi Theta Kappa holds fall Induction in Eagle Pass

The Beta Lambda Gamma Chapter of the International Honor Society Phi Theta Kappa inducted 27 new members this fall at Southwest Texas Junior College, during ceremony November 7th in Eagle Pass. more pics

Chat with the President
chat with president 2014  SWTJC President Dr. Hector Gonzales visited the Eagle Pass campus to address student concerns during a Oct 21st Q&A session in the room D113.

Several students were on hand to ask a variety of questions addressing issues concerning student safety, parking, new RN program requirements, as well inquiries on construction updates and space for students to enjoy.

PTK Blood Drive
PTK Blood Drive 2014 

The annual fall blood drive on the Eagle Pass campus was a big success.

According to drive organizer Mr. Paul Kimble, a total of 32 units of blood were donated. In addition, 30 people signed up for the bone marrow registry.

SWTJC Eagle Pass Campus had their annual Fall festival 2014 on October 23, 2014 from 6pm - 9pm in the court yard. Students were treated to some entertainment from the different schools of the community Pete Gallegos, Sam Houston, Benavides Heights , Perfecto Mancha, HB Gonzalez, Cerna Elem just to name a few. I would like to thank Mr. Bruno Reyes and Miss.Lety Villanueva for all their support in the fall festival, music by Rafael Herrera. More Pics

SWTJC partners with Texas State University on USDA grant
The United States Department of Agriculture’s Hispanic Serving Institutions Education Grants Program (HSI) has recently awarded Dr. P. Ryan Saucier (Assistant Professor; Project Director) and Dr. Douglas G. Morrish (Associate Professor; Co-Project Director) a four year grant worth $998, 856.00. Both professors are faculty members in the Department of Agriculture at Texas State University.

Their grant entitled Southwest Agriculture And Food Security Education: Preparing Future Leaders For A Safe And Secure U.S. Food Supply System (SAFE), will fund 10 undergraduate student’s education from Austin Community College (ACC) and Southwest Texas Junior College (SWTJC). Upon completion of a two year degree at ACC and SWTJC, students will transfer to Texas State University and complete a bachelor degree in agriculture or a related science. Additionally, 11 graduate students education will be funded at Texas State University and/or New Mexico State University in agriculture or a related science.

Eagle Pass Campus ended the Hispanic Heritage month with speaker Mr. Joaquin L. Rodriguez Attorney at Law on Thursday Oct 9, 214. Mr. Joaquin L. Rodriguez, born Uvalde, Texas on Sept. 10, 1949; admitted to bar 1982, Texas. Preparatory education, Southwest Texas Junior College (1968-69); University of Texas at Austin (B.A., 1972); legal education, University of Texas at Austin (J.D., 1981).
