Flores to give presentation on SWTJC's history

Rodolfo R. FloresIn recognition of SWTJC's selection by the Aspen Institute as one of the top ten community colleges in the United States, the Uvalde County Historical Commission will feature the college in a special program on Thursday, Oct. 27.

SWTJC graduate, longtime trustee and current board president Rodolfo R. Flores will give a presentation entitled: "Southwest Texas Junior College: Past, Present and Future" starting at 5:30 p.m. at the El Progreso Library.

Flores graduated from SWTJC in 1950 as a member of one of the first graduating classes at the college. He was a charter member of the Eta Beta Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society.

Following his graduation from SWTJC, Flores enrolled in St. Mary's University Law School in San Antonio where he received bachelor of laws and doctor of jurisprudence degrees at the age of 21. He has been a trustee on the SWTJC board for 37 years and has been board president for the past 22 years.
