Southwest Texas Junior College got the highest rating awarded on its annual audit prepared by Ede & Company, Certified Public Accountants.
In his presentation to the SWTJC board at its December 8 meeting, Eric Ede, CPA, told trustees that the college had once again earned an unqualified opinion, the "best you can receive."
Ede commended SWTJC Chief Financial Officer Hector Gonzales and his staff for their ongoing work. "It is always a pleasure to work with Dean Gonzales, Anne Tarski, Lisa Ermis and the entire staff in your business office," Ede said. "You are very fortunate to have the quality people you have working here."
During his presentation Ede noted that the bottom line for SWTJC over the 2010-2011 fiscal year showed an increase of just over $1 million in net assets.
In other items acted on at its December meeting the board adopted budget amendments which reduced the overall deficit in this year's budget by $29,078 and extended the college's Crystal City note with First State Bank for one year at 1.65% interest.
Board members selected Maria Elena Lara as the CCATT representative and designated Jesse Martinez as the college's local government records management officer.
