Keynote speaker was Greg Souquette, H.E.B. Sr. Vice President and General Manager for the San Antonio West Region. Souquette, a graduate of Uvalde High School, also attended SWTJC in Uvalde and went on to receive his B.A. from Southwest Texas State University. He has been with H.E.B. for the last 42 years.
Souquette spoke about some of the obstacles he overcame in his life. "I came to Uvalde at the age of six and my dad was dying of Leukemia," Souquette said. "My dad passed away three months later and I wondered what life was going to bring." Souquette urged the graduates not to lose this momentum and continue this path of continuous improvement.
Following Souquette's speech, Dean of Institutional Advancement and Technology Blaine Bennett, assisted in presenting certificates of completion to the graduates.
A reception was held immediately following the ceremony for the graduates, their families and guests.
