Four instructors from SWTJC will be among presenters at the 65th Annual Texas Community College Teacher's Association (TCCTA) Convention slated March 1-3 in Frisco, TX.
"SWTJC will be well represented this year," said Jill Coe, director of professional development. "I commend our instructors for being willing to share their expertise with our peers."
English instructor Reagan King, librarian Landra Fowler, computer science instructor Diane Underwood and speech instructor/communication department head Rob Fowler will all take part in presentations during the convention at the Embassy Suites Hotel and Convention Center.
King's presentation is entitled "Using Visuals for Writing: How Pictures Can Help Students Write about Current Events." Landra Fowler will present "Linked-Learning Through Libguides," while Underwood will present "Power-up Your PowerPoints."
All three of these presentations are part of the Great Ideas For Teaching Students (GIFTS) seminars planned for this year's convention. GIFTS seminars are designed to last 10 to 15 minutes and offer specific ideas for teaching that are practical to educators in all disciplines.
Communications department head Rob Fowler will be part of a four-member panel discussion on fostering student success in the speech classroom.
SWTJC's Coe willl also be attending the upcoming convention. She serves on the TCCTA Professional Development Committee.
