SWTJC instructor Bob Zaiglin honored by The Wildlife Society

bobzaiglinBob Zaiglin, department chair of the wildlife management program at SWTJC, was recently awarded The Wildlife Society's prestigious deer management career achievement award.

The award was presented to Zaiglin during the 35th Annual Southeast Deer Group Meeting in Sandestin, Florida.

Dr. Steve Demaris, professor at Mississippi State University and chairman of the Southeast Deer Group, recognized Zaiglin for "his oustanding contributions to the understanding of white-tailed deer ecology and management in the southeastern United States."

Member states in the society's southeast section include Missouri, Texas, Delaware, Maryland and West Virginia. Last year, Zaiglin was awarded the 2011 outstanding achievement award ty the Texas Chapter of The Wildlife Society.

The wildlife management program at Southwest Texas Junior College currently has 122 freshmen and sophomores enrolled in the only two-year program of its kind in the state.
