Team raises over $1,400 during American Cancer Society fund-raiser

relayfrolifeA team of SWTJC students and staff raised a total of $1,431 in the 2012 Relay For Life fund-raiser which benefits the American Cancer Society.

Sierra King of SWTJC Uvalde, a member of the Eta Beta Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society, was the captain of this year's team.

Other SWTJC participants included Santana Fuentes, Ernesto Alejandro, Trisha Clark, Elizabeth Stiles, Juanita Macias, James White and Krystalbelle Vasquez.

Also, Jesus Castillo, Jessica Nunez-Gonzalez, Sanette Bermudez, Cecilia Soliz, Brenda Ibarra, Maria Morales, Joel Mojica, Rose Desylva and Ralph Gonzalez.

The team received a special thank you letter from event organizers for helping prepare lumninarias for the event held April 13 at the Honey Bowl Stadium in Uvalde.

Area cancer survivors, as well as area residents who have lost their lives to cancer, are recognized and remembered during the annual event.
