Top faculty honored during annual Dean's Breakfast

Buchanan received the SWTJC Faculty Association Teaching Excellence Award. She is  a business instructor on the Uvalde campus and chair of the business administration division. Government instructor Jack Lampe made the presentation to Buchanan.

Sandoval received the Outstanding Faculty Member Award presented annually by the SWTJC administration. He is an instructor of kinesiology in Uvalde. SWTJC Dean of Instructional Services Hector Gonzales presented the award.

Eight SWTJC employees who are retiring this year were also recognized including Lasche Glasscock, 16 years; George Garza, 22 years; Ruben Rendon, 28 years; Freddy Morales, 30 years; Susan Creech, 32 years; Imelda Ramirez, 37 years; Jim Swink, 43 years; and Les Brieden, 44 years.

Various SWTJC faculty and staff received service pins from their respective deans during the annual event.

Jack Lampe received a 40-year service pin and Bea Garcia was recognized for 35 years of service.
Nancy Masterson and Carlos Cazares received 30-year pins, while Delia Esquivel, Betty McCullough and Dave Sprott were honored for 25 years of service.

Twenty-year service pins were presented to Marilyn Casson, Sharon Wilson, Lidia Alvarez, Elsa DeHoyos, Oscar S. Garcia, Fela Garza, Lorena Lopez and Suzanne McCormack.

Receiving 15-year pins were Jan Burchfield, Barbara Compton, Albert Hernandez, Terri Tucker, Rob Fowler and David Conde.

Honored for 10 years of service were SWTJC trustee Tony T. Moreno, Carlos Ramos, Mickey Stocks, Helen Strait, Idalia De La Cruz, Lucas Limbrick, Emma Martinez, Eloy Montalvo, Sandra Colombo, Maria DeHoyos, Liz Garcia, Steve Garner, Melissa Lopez, Blanca Martinez, Cecilia Padilla, Jason Perkins, Claudia Rodriguez and Jaime Sierra.

The list of 5-year service pin recipients includes SWTJC trustee Anita Shackelford, Landra Fowler, Geraldine Goosen, Stephen Schomber, Ramiro Flores, Arturo Mancha, Derek Veazey, Victor Arroyos and Wade Carpenter.

Others receiving pins for five years of service were Juan A. Castillo, Andrea Flores, Sonia Flores, Ismael Martinez, Julie Monsivais, Dora Padilla, Gladue Tafolla, Azalia Gardia, Gracie Zavala De Luna and Savanna M. Hernandez.
