SWTJC trustees reelected the same slate of officers for the coming year, during their regular monthly meeting held May 17 in Uvalde.

President Rodolfo R. Flores, vice president Dr. Harry Watkins and secretary Dr. Antonio H. Rivera will remain in their posts until the next trustee election.

The new officers were elected after the swearing in of trustees Victor Lopez (Place 1), Maria Elena Lara (Place 2) and Nita Shackelford (Place 3). The three incumbent trustees were unopposed this year in races for their respective places on the board.

In other action at the board's May meeting, trustee Tony Moreno was presented a 10-year service pin and Nita Shackelford received a five-year pin.

Trustees approved tenure for reading instructor Aide Escamilla and chemistry instructor Jesus Garcia.

The board also heard a report concerning the needs assessment on energy savings at the college and approved contracting with Schneider Electric to continue moving forward with the energy savings project.

Reports were also given to the board on the transportation department and the registered nursing program.

Following the regular board meeting, the board of the Southwest Texas Junior College Foundation, Inc., met and authorized the architectural firm of Ferrell Brown & Associates to continue development of the site plan for proposed improvements and additions on the Del Rio campus.
