President Ismael Sosa, Jr., will welcome back faculty and staff Wednesday, Aug. 22, at the first general session of fall convocation at Southwest Texas Junior College.
Following a continental breakfast starting at 8 a.m. in the Matthews Student Center, president Sosa will begin his remarks at 9 a.m. in the Tate Auditorium on the SWTJC Uvalde campus.
Dean of Admissions and Student Services Joe Barker, Dean of Institutional Advancement and Technology Blaine Bennett and President-Elect/Dean of Instructional Services Hector Gonzales will also address the first general session.
Division meetings will round out the morning's activities from 10:45 until noon, followed by department meetings on Wednesday afternoon.
A variety of professional development opportunities for faculty and staff will make up the agenda for Thursday and Friday.
Convocation week formally begins on Tuesday with morning meetings of deans, associate deans, division and department chairs. New faculty orientation is scheduled Tuesday afternoon, as well as meetings of various technical program directors, division and department chairs.
Registration for fall classes at the college will continue through Friday, Aug. 24. The first day of fall classes is Monday, Aug. 27.
