High school and home school dual credit students have three more opportunities to attend a mandatory orientation session for the fall semester.
"We have been holding these sessions across the region for the past three weeks and the attendance has been good," SWTJC Outreach Director Margot Mata said. "We know we have some first time students who still haven't attended a session so this is their last chance."
Sessions will be held in Del Rio on Aug. 29 from 1 to 4 p.m., on Aug. 30 in Eagle Pass from 1 to 4 p.m. and in Uvalde on Aug. 31 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Dual credit classes allow juniors and seniors the opportunity to earn high school and college credit simultaneously. Mata said the mandatory three-hour orientation sessions are designed to outline student expectations and responsibilities.
"We want our dual credit students to fully understand the expectations and responsibilities of taking a college course," Mata said. "We will also use this time to teach students how to access the college portal and WebAdvisor systems, and to discuss all the services we have available to help students succeed.."
Only first-time dual credit students are required to attend a session before they can officially enroll. Students who have previously taken a dual credit course through SWTJC are not required to attend the orientation session.
For more information about dual credit orientation, students should contact their high school counselor or call SWTJC at 591-7390.
