Rotaract, the newest club on the Uvalde campus, invites students to attend its launch party on Tuesday, Sept. 18.
Laura Whipple, one of the club's sponsors, says the upcoming launch party is designed to let interested students get information about what the club offers students and young professionals.
"We had a table at the recent Welcome Back party and handed out information to a good number of interested students," Whipple said. "We hope we get more students to attend our party and learn more about our club on Sept. 18."
According to Whipple, the party will be held in room nine of the Tate Building. Snacks and soft drinks will be served.
Rotaract is a volunteer service and professional development club for male and female students and is sponsored by the Uvalde Rotary Club. Rotary International, a global network of community volunteers, is one of the largest and most influential international humanitarian service organizations in the world.
Today, Rotary International boasts over 1.2 million members and more than 190,000 Rotaract clubs in some 200 countries and geographical areas.
"At our upcoming launch party we will discuss some of the service and social events we are planning for this school year," Whipple said. "Please come join us and be a part of getting Rotaract started at SWTJC."
Other sponsoring Rotarians for the club include Julie Thomas, Stephen Kerbow and Dick Whipple. For more information, students can e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org
