Head-on accident claims lives of two SWTJC students

Two SWTJC students died late Saturday night (Oct. 27) in a head-on traffic crash just west of Uvalde.
Killed in the accident were SWTJC students Roger Aldrete, 20, and Lizeth Veronica Garcia, 21, both of Del Rio.

The Del Rio couple were westbound on U.S. Highway 90 when their Hyundai SUV collided head-on with a Toyota Tundra driven by Francisco Morales of San Antonio who was taken to a San Antonio hospital for treatment of injuries sustained in the wreck.  Morales wife, Manuela, 49, was also killed in the crash.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the crash took place at 11 p.m. on Oct. 27 approximately 7.2 miles west of Uvalde.

A joint funeral mass for the two SWTJC students was held at 9:30 a.m. Oct. 31, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Del Rio. Interment followed at the Sunset Memorial Oaks Cemetery in Del Rio.
