Basketball teams lose on the road against Victoria College

Both SWTJC basketball teams suffered loses in league play Wednesday (Nov. 7) in Victoria.

The SWTJC men lost 109-90 to Victoria College. "It's never fun to lose, but our team held their own for most of the game against one of the best teams in the league and that's encouraging," coach Richard Flores said.

Edward Robertson led the Cowboys with 24 points. Other SWTJC players scoring in double figures were: Kejuan Presberry and Andre Thomas, 12 points each; and Angel Gaitan, 10 points.

In league play, the Cowboys record is 1-2. Victoria College and St. Philip's College are tied for the league lead at 3-0.

The SWTJC Cowgirls suffered their first league loss falling 65-37 to Victoria College. The Cowgirls are 2-1 for the season. Northwest Vista College leads the women's division with a 3-1 record.

Next league action for both SWTJC teams will be on Wednesday, Nov. 14, when they travel to San Antonio to play Northwest Vista College.

SWTJC teams will host Incarnate Word University on Monday, Nov. 19, in the La Forge Hall Gym. This is a makeup game rescheduled because of an earlier conflict.
