SWTJC humanities chair Terri Tucker has been accepted to read at the 8th Annual Scissortail Creative Writing Festival on April 4-6, in Ada, OK.

According to Tucker, she will be reading her creative nonfiction work "Back in the Day: 1965," at the annual festival hosted by East Central University.

Over 50 authors from across the country will be participating in the 2013 festival, including former Texas poet laureate Larry Thomas of Houston.

"I visited with Larry during the Christmas break and he encouraged me to submit," Tucker said. "Larry said it is a great event and I am looking forward to participating."

Tucker teaches creative writing and English classes at SWTJC. Her work has been featured in numerous literary publications and she has been a frequent presenter at the Angelo State University Writer's Conference held annually in honor of Texas writing legend Elmer Kelton.
