State representative is guest speaker in Texas Government class

governmentclassState Representative Tracy O. King of Uvalde was the guest speaker recently in Xaviera Haynes Texas Government class on the SWTJC Uvalde campus.

King, who represents the 80th District in the Texas House of Representatives, was first elected to the Texas House of Representatives in November 1994 and recently completed his ninth term.

He is chair of House Agriculture and Livestock Committee and a member of the Natural Resources Committee. King also serves as a member of the Edwards Aquifer Legislative Oversight Committee and the Energy Council.

A native of Carrizo Springs, King attended SWTJC before going on the Texas A&M University where he earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Agricultural Engineering.

King answered questions from class members on various aspects of the state legislative process.
