Former instructor dies at home in Reagan Wells

Longtime SWTJC physics instructor Mary Beth Monroe died Aug. 27 at her residence in the Reagan Wells area at the age of 65.

Monroe taught at SWTJC from September 1974 until her retirement in May of 2012. In the spring of 2005, she was named a fellow of the American Physical Society. Monroe was a state an national office holder and award recipient of the American Association of Physics Teachers.

In 2011, Monroe received the SWTJC Faculty Association Teaching Excellence Award.

Funeral services were held at the First Baptist Church in Reagan Wells at 10 a.m., on Monday Sept. 2, followed by graveside services at the Heard Cemetery.
