Led by Rozlyn Reeves and Morgann McDonald, the SWTJC women's team won the team title at the 51st Annual SWTJC Rodeo held Oct. 3-5 at the Uvalde County Fairplex Arena.
Reeves (pictured on the right) placed second in goat tying and sixth in barrel racing to win the women's all-around title, while McDonald swept the competition in barrel racing, winning first place in both rounds and dominating the competition.
The SWTJC women's team finished with 360 points to beat Hill College (220 points) for the title. With their performance at home, the SWTJC women are in first place overall after two events in the Southern Region of the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association.
In the men's division, SWTJC finished third behind McNeese State University (MSU) and Sam Houston State University (SHSU).
SWTJC's Sterling Furr made a ride to remember in the short go on Saturday evening, scoring an 84 and tying for first in the average.
Calf roper Trenton Smith finished sixth in the average to earn points for the SWTJC men, while team ropers Wes Troyer and Colton Nelson earned points for their eighth place finish.
After two events, SHSU leads the men's team competition with 1,017 points, while MSU is in second place with 872 points. The SWTJC men are sixth overall with 400 points.
