Cowgirls have good warmup for start of league play

The Cowgirls basketball team won two games this past weekend as they prepared for the opening of league play on Wednesday night (Oct. 16) in Uvalde.

Playing in a tournament at San Antonio's Mission Park, the SWTJC women's team beat Northwest Vista College, 60-45, in their first game and followed that with a 67-31 win over San Antonio College.

In the game with NVC, Dorene Ramirez was the top scorer with 20 points and Laura Torres had 14. Against SAC, Torres had 20 points to lead the Cowgirls and Karina Covarrubias was the second leading scorer with 11 points.
