SWTJC trustees were updated on construction of two new buildings at the Del Rio Campus during the regular monthly board meeting Thursday (Oct. 17) in Uvalde.
Les Glaze, representing project architects Ferrell/Brown and Associates, informed the board that the project is on schedule.
"The administration building is scheduled to be ready by the Christmas Break and the classroom building will be ready by spring break," Glaze told the board.
Construction on the $6.7 million project began last December. Included in the project are a 5,900 square-foot administration building and a 32,615 square-foot academic building. Templeton Construction from San Angelo are contractors for the project.
In his president's report, Dr. Hector Gonzales congratulated the SWTJC women's rodeo team for taking first place in the 51st Annual SWTJC Rodeo held earlier this month. Gonzales also told the board that site layouts for potential building projects in Crystal City and Eagle Pass are currently being drafted.
Board members also heard a report from Lucas Limbrick on the status of the Diesel Technology program. There are currently 33 students, 22 freshmen and 11 sophomores, enrolled in the program housed on the Eagle Pass campus.
The board voted to hold its next meeting on Dec. 12.
