Creative arts contest winners announced this week

Winners in the 2014 Southwest Texas Junior College Creative Arts Contest will be announced this week via the college website.

Contest winners will also be notified with a letter, which will be going out this week, according to event organizers.

“The letters just announce that the entrant has won something,” contest coordinator Ismael Martinez said. “We won’t announce the places until our award’s ceremony on April 24."

Martinez encourages all entrants to check the college web site this weekend or early next week to find a complete list of winners.

“We will list all the winners by community, on our web site,” Martinez said. “Every year we get letters returned because of incorrect addresses, so I encourage everyone who entered to take a look at the web site and see if your name is on the winners list.”

Martinez said the winners list will be posted at www.swtjc.edu.

At next week’s award’s ceremony, first through fourth place winners will be announced in a variety of age groups and categories, literary and visual arts. A cash prize of $20 will be awarded an overall literary and visual arts winner in each age group.

If you have questions about the award’s ceremony contact Martinez at 591-2942.
