College Bound Program
Recruitment/Selection
Southwest Texas Junior College is responsible for the coordination of
recruitment with the various school districts in the M.R.G.D.C. area.
High school counselors are encouraged to make known the features and
availability of the program to interested seniors who pass all sections
of the exit level TAAS test and are eligible for graduation. The Middle
Rio Grande Development Council determines which applicants meet the
eligibility requirements by no later than the second week of May.
Arrangements are be made to administer a Pre-TASP exam to all potential
participants on or prior to the first day of class. Middle Rio Grande
Staff will screen and select students. Selected students and their
parents are notified by phone and mail and are required to attend an
orientation session on the Saturday prior to the first day of class.
