This course is an introduction to the level of Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)-Basic and includes all the skills necessary to provide emergency medical care at a basic life support level with an ambulance service or other specialized services. Curriculum is based on the Department of Transportation (DOT) National Standard Curriculum.
EMT Basic Course Requirements:
- At least 18 years of age
- Immunizations - TB Skin Test and Hep. B Series (3 shots)
- Accuplacer ATB Reading & Writing - 65 minimum passing score
- CPR
- Copy of Valid Driver's License
- Copy of High School Diploma/GED
Course Descriptions:
EMSP 1001 EMT Basic (170 hours) -Preparation for certification as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) - Basic. Includes all the skills necessary to provide emergency medical care at a basic life support level with an emergency service or other specialized services.
EMSP 1060 EMT Basic (48 hours)- A health-related work-based learning experience that enables the student to apply specialized occupational theory, skills, and concepts. Direct supervision is provided by the clinical professional.
EMSP 1019 CPR for Health Care Providers (8 hours)- Designed for healthcare providers and professional rescuers. Lifesaving skills of respiratory (choking and near-drowning) and cardiac emergencies involving adults, children, and infants.
