| Irene Cardenas Memorial Scholarship |
Irene Cardenas dedicated twenty one years of her life to educating the youth of Del Rio community. Her acts of kindness, devotion and commitment touched the hearts of students, parents and peers. In continuing her dreams of educating children, friends and family have established this scholarship in her honor. This scholarship is offered to Del Rio High School Graduates. The recipient of the scholarship must be a full-time student (12 semester hours) of Southwest Texas Junior College Del Rio Campus with the minimum of 30 semester hours in the discipline of Elementary Education. The recipient must maintain a GPA of 2.50. The scholarship will vary in the amount awarded. The recipient is selected by the Irene Cardenas Memorial Scholarship committee. Application forms may be obtained from the SWTJC Outreach Center office in Del Rio.
