Spring 2022 Instructional Plan

Spring 2022 Instructional Plan

cadets in classroom socially distanced

SWTJC welcomes you back as we continue to follow CDC guidelines for social distancing by following safety measures to protect our college communities.

All SWTJC campuses and offices will remain open for business, with services offered in-person and/or virtually. Library, transportation services, residence halls, dining services, and writing centers will still be available on our campuses. On a daily basis, everyone must participate at our check-in stations to check their temperature, and wear a color-coordinated wrist band to indicate you have no COVID-19 symptoms, including a fever. Practicing social distancing and wearing masks while in these spaces is required.

Everyone is required to wear face masks when indoors, engaging in social interactions/environments on SWTJC campuses and outdoors if unable to maintain a six-foot separation from other individuals.

The maximum number of students in a class or lab will be determined using Center for Disease Control (CDC) guidelines for safe social distancing. Student and Faculty participation in these classes may also include a variety of other safe practices to include:

  • Staggered schedules
  • Temperature screenings
  • All faculty, staff, and students are required to wear a mask when indoors and not alone in their personal office or behind plexiglass.
  • COVID-19 Vaccinations are highly encouraged
  • Classrooms cleaned/sanitized regularly

Student Services including Library, Advising, Registrar/Admissions, Financial Aid, Business Office, and Student Success Centers will be available with a commitment to the most current CDC, federal, and state recommendations regarding capacity, social distancing, accessible hand sanitizing, and frequency of cleaning and maintenance.

Temperature screenings will be conducted for all students, visitors, and staff that are on campuses.

The Instructional Plan has been designed with an understanding of the fluid and constantly changing nature of what is occurring regarding the COVID-19 pandemic. That is to say that the details and specifics of any part of the plan could and most likely will change given the most current guidelines, restrictions, and recommendations coming from Federal, State, Texas Higher Education Coordination Board and local sources.

The Instructional Plan provides an institution-wide accounting of how to keep our SWTJC community safe and still provide an accessible, high-quality, post-secondary education to our constituents. Department-specific plans have also been included as addendums to the Return to Campus Plan to address any safety issues that are specific to that department.
