Flu shots available at Del Rio and Uvalde campuses

As flu season approaches, SWTJC wants to make sure flu vaccinations are widely available to both students and faculty by having trained pharmacists from Walgreens on campus Thursday, Nov. 15 at the Rodolfo R. and Dolores Flores Building conference room in front of business office from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. administering flu shots.

In Del Rio, CVS pharmacists will be at the campus from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 14 administering flu shots in the conference room in building C.

Individuals are required to provide a copy of their medical insurance card.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the best way to avoid the spread of flu-like viruses, such as Influenza, is by getting vaccinated every year. The most common way people contract the flu is from exposure to other people with flu-like symptoms.

Aside from vaccinations, the best way to curb the spread of viruses is daily preventative actions, such as hand washing, covering coughs and sneezes, as well as wearing masks when sick with cold symptoms.
