Southwest Texas Junior College Board of Trustees gear up for August meeting

Uvalde, TX, August 16, 2023 - The monthly meeting of the SWTJC board of trustees is scheduled for Aug. 17, at 6 p.m. in the Bluebonnet Room in Uvalde with a range of key matters on the agenda.
 
The agenda items slated for discussion include deliberations over certified tax rolls subject to properties under protest, proposed tax rates, and the potential adoption of a tax rate.
 
Furthermore, the trustees will address policy updates. The agenda features consideration and action on TASB Update 45.
 
An executive session will also take place. Board members will focus on personnel matters, including employment-related concerns, discussing the president's contract, and consultations with the college's legal representatives.
 
Following the executive session, the board will reconvene in open session to address further action items. Notably, trustees will vote on approving a resolution recalling votes to appoint Javier Flores to the Uvalde County Appraisal District board of directors. Additionally, trustees are expected to act on the president's contract.
 
The meeting will allow stakeholders and community members to witness the college's commitment to transparency and excellence in governance.
