Uvalde, TX, November 15, 2023 - The Eta Beta Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society at Southwest Texas Junior College (SWTJC) celebrated its Fall Induction Ceremony Oct. 25, welcoming 55 new inductees.

The ceremony honored the academic achievements of the following individuals: Kaisey Bodiford, Kamila Morales, Anasofia Chaverria, Kassandra Leyva, Arleth Curz, Sierra Ramos, Danielle Garcia, Willow Nieto, Dannika Walker, Melanie Ramirez, Jolie Myers, Abigail Ramirez, Lelianna Valdez, Mario Garza, Arlynn Lopez and Caitlin Renard.

Other inductees include Carolina Gonzalez, Jennel Mariscal, Jon Jimenez, Avery Adams, Areli Searcy, Bethany Paulino, Andrea Valdez, Alexandria Nolasco, Aubrey Dominguez, Adrian Saucedo, Santana Ayala, Amos Osio, Solomon Palanco, Gregory Maxwell, Joe Moreno and Luke Leavelle.

Inductees not in attendance include Ben Adams, Isabel Alarcon, Aracely Aranda, Ellie Daughtry, Isa Downes, Tessa Duncan, Ivana Flores, Elina Fuente, Nathaniel Garza, Avery Graves, Natasha Martinez, Caitlynn Massey, Lilly Moore, Alyson Ramirez, Johnny Reading, Kelsie Romo, Ryan Ruiz, Robert Sanchez, Nataly Santos, Karina Silva, Madison Speed, Emily Sturgeon and Deanna Wilson.

Ryan Aldritt, the Eta Beta Chapter Sponsor, set the tone for the event with his opening remarks, expressing hope that this induction marks the beginning of a new academic journey for the inductees. Aldritt also extended gratitude to the families of the new members for their unwavering support.

The official induction ceremony was conducted by the current Eta Beta Chapter officers, including President Alma Garza, Vice President Milagros Garza, Public Relations & Communications Officer Michelle Villarreal, Finance Officer Jocelyn Garcia and Fundraising & Service Officer Yulissa Fuentes. Their roles were pivotal in making the induction ceremony a memorable and smooth event.

Phi Theta Kappa membership is a prestigious honor that requires students to complete at least 12 semester hours with a minimum GPA of 3.5. To maintain active membership, students must remain enrolled in at least six hours and sustain a GPA of 3.0 or higher. The society recognizes and celebrates academic excellence, commitment to education, and a dedication to personal and professional growth.
