Opening the presentation, Dr. Gonzales emphasized SWTJC's commitment to comprehensive education, encompassing academics, technical training and career development.

Regarding dual credit, Dr. Gonzales unveiled significant reforms made possible through legislative support, notably Texas House Bill 8. Under this legislation, tuition fees have been standardized at $55 per credit, marking a substantial reduction from previous rates. Furthermore, students classified as free/reduced-price lunch in the past four years now enjoy tuition waivers, eliminating financial barriers to education.

In Dr. Gonzales's words, "The implementation of HB 8 is a game-changer for students and districts alike, fostering greater accessibility to higher education."

Highlighting the shift in funding mechanisms, Dr. Gonzales explained that SWTJC now prioritizes program completion over enrollment. This model shift aligns with the college's longstanding commitment to student success. SWTJC success coaches collaborate with schools to provide personalized support, guiding students toward their academic and career goals.

"Our focus on student success is not just a philosophy; it's the cornerstone of our funding model. We're invested in ensuring every student has the resources and support they need to succeed," remarked Dr. Gonzales.

The presentation underscored SWTJC's dedication to seamless academic transitions, evidenced by partnerships with universities like Texas A&M International University. These collaborations guarantee that credits earned through dual credit programs seamlessly transfer, providing students with assurance and peace of mind.

Dr. Gonzales concluded the presentation by expressing gratitude for the longstanding partnership with La Pryor ISD. Emphasizing open communication and collaboration, he assured the board of SWTJC's unwavering commitment to supporting the district's educational goals.

"We value our partnership with La Pryor ISD and remain dedicated to supporting your vision for student success. Together, we can empower our students to achieve their fullest potential," stated Dr. Gonzales.

In a closing remark, Dr. Gonzales reiterated the importance of early communication in scheduling, emphasizing the college's willingness to accommodate the district's needs.
