Turkey Trot draws big crowd of runners, spectators on Nov. 17

Approximately 100 runners and walkers participated in the 34th Annual SWTJC Turkey trot held Saturday (Nov. 17) in Uvalde.

Diego Garza had the best time in the men's 5k competition with a 20:50. Victoria Kraemer ran a 23:20 to top the women's division.

A competition was also held in a one-mile kid run. Carter Crow of Uvalde had the best time with a 6:54, while Kylie Kramer ran a 7:46 to top the girl’s division.

Also, during this year’s event Cecilia Padilla, a testing assistant on the Uvalde campus was recognized and honored.

Padilla was recently diagnosed with cancer and has been a longtime participant in the turkey trot.

This year she was unable to walk, her family friends and coworkers took part in the event to show their support.
